Answer: You need to purchase the Base Station as this is the main component (the brains of the system) you can then purchase what you want as an add on - You can arm and disarm the alarm system with your mobile however just in case I would recommend the key pad in the event you run out of battery power on your mobile. -

Answer: The batteries last for approximately two years with regular use. -

Can this detector be used outside (to detect movement in a courtyard for instance) if it was placed somewhere protected from the weather?
Answer: They're not designed for outdoor use, there isn't any kind of moisture seal fitted to the battery cover so, even if you installed them under cover, moisture would likely get in. -

Do I need the base alarm for this to work alone? I only want to get notifications for motion detected only.
Answer: You need the alarm base station for the motion detector to work. -
