Answer: To my knowledge, you cannot recycle them. They are considered disposable, which I think is terrible. They should use canisters that can be sent back and refilled with fresh charcoal. I have simply stopped changing them out. It does not affect the operation of the unit and I have never found the odors to be an issue, but I guess it depends on what you put in there.
