The unit does not come with a water filter but can accommodate a small filter if desired. Customers have inquired about using the unit as a standalone bottle filler, however, it is a retrofit kit that connects to an existing drinking fountain. It can be retrofitted to an Elkay EZ or LZ Series Cooler with a spacer adapter. The installation process, according to a customer, was not difficult and can be done on top of an Oasis fountain but is not compatible with a Halsey-Taylor fountain.
