- L-Ascorbic Acid is the most effective form of Vitamin C for skin care but once mixed with water it is not shelf stable. It quickly degrades and loses its potency. This is why people easily mix their own at home for maximum results at very low cost. Our topical Vitamin C powder for face mixes with water-based ingredients. Just follow the recipe. Add the recommended amount of powder and distilled water, cover, and SHAKE until dissolved! Vitamin C powder is used for making cosmetics and can easily be incorporated into skincare recipes or mixed with compatible skin care products once it's dissolved into water. Its powerful antioxidant action is a booster for serums, masks, and lotions. Vitamin C is a highly sought-after skincare ingredient for its effectiveness in top skin care lines. But you can make your own Vitamin C serum, toner, hyaluronic acid serum with Vitamin C, and Vitamin C mask for even better results. This is 100% pure L-Ascorbic Acid. It’s very powerful and when used correctly it can be tolerated by any skin type. For best results, we recommend starting at a super low concentration (5%) and increasing over time. Example Recipe Portion (5% Concentration) = 1/4 tsp Vitamin C Powder + 4-3/4 tsp Water-Based Liquid/Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base. Example Recipe Portion (10% Concentration) = 1/2 tsp Vitamin C Powder + 4-1/2 tsp Water-Based Liquid/Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base. Directions: Add Vitamin C Powder to liquid, cover container, and shake vigorously until powder is dissolved. Because the L-Ascorbic Acid form of Vitamin C is water-soluble, it will only dissolve in water-based ingredients. If your formulation contains oil-based ingredients, the Vitamin C powder must be dissolved in water first (up to 20% concentration) before it is added to the oil phase. L-ascorbic acid powder will never dissolve in pure oil formulas. Our 100% pure Vitamin C fine-grain size powder will dissolve in water-based liquids up to a 20% concentration. If you find your Vitamin C powder is not dissolving as expected, you are likely using too much powder for the amount of liquid in your formula. This is common if you have previously been using extra fine powders that are fluffier and measure differently.
